ReplyDeleteThe notecards began every class,
and many a question I asked.
They answered politely,
delivered quite nicely
their stories both present and past.
Next, from the syllbus read I,
spoke 'til every student was red-eyed.
They listened intently,
or faked it so gently,
I felt like a word-working deadeye.
I explained that the choice they had made
was solely for hardworking, brave
Spartans who care
about truth, and more rare,
all those willing to read for their grades.
I then hit the details of Scribe Notes,
hitting the low and the high notes,
all year we will write
and develop our minds
like an embryo grows from a zygote.
Last, we finally got down and dirty
about MYTH, constructing a word-tree.
But you seemed to all grasp
the import of the task,
Even if you think English is nerdy.
And that's when I stopped in the middle
of unraveling this little riddle:
What is MYTH, sisters, brothers?
It's a word multicolored
like a big bag of bright Rainbow Skittles.
