ReplyDeleteI walked into class pretty casual as always, but today was different. I had the burden of being my inner scribe for the first time. As I sat down and began to write these I was stumpted, so I asked my neighbor, which I still dont know the name of.. Mr. Becker started off class by explaining to us our duties for the day. We are to get into our groups to discuss the first portion of our stories and the assigned responses for each person. Mr. Becker also expressed his interest in discussion group time and how it is something to be valued, and that they ARE WORTH POINTS. So as we got into our groups, I thought that I would be a good idea to go to the "reading rug" for group time since our group space is always limited due to the groups around us but Nooooooooo, our group is to "Cool" for that. We continued to discuss the stories for the remainder of the class periode. Towards the end of the hour I started to get pretty hungry and then that led me to start thinking about my car that I am getting today. With five minutes left, we went back to our desks and received our next assignment, which was to read the next section of our story by Monday and to complete our response. As the minute hand inched toward the big one like a baby caterpiller, the class began to converse. BING BING BING.. Mythology class down for the count.

ReplyDeletei walk i the door and suddenly remember that i am the lucky one who has scribe notes today. I smell something very funny sort of like burnt hair. My fellow classmates also smell the funky smell. Mr. Becker opens a couple windows to let the funky smell fly away outside. As the smell flew away I turn and listened to some of my classmates' conversation about guns. I turn to them and say that I want a little silver pistol. i also said that I would like to psych someone out and wip out a lighter that looks like a mini silver pistol. Then everyone realizes that the woom has lightened up with the sun's rays shining through the window. I exclaim to everyone that I feel more awake and alert due to the brightness of the room. They all agree with me and move onto listening to Mr. Becker. He informs us that today is a work day. Also that the work we are working on is due Monday. I am greatful of this because it is a three day weekend and I am given much time to complete my work properly. Felix then asked Mr. Becker how his day has been going and Mr. Becker replied with, "Good, but I would like to see you working" (Mr. Becker November 2, 2010 6th hour Mythology class). We all nod and go to work. While everyone is working on their work, I sit here in silence and write these scribe notes. I feel like I am falling behind on my work, but then I remember that I have five days to complete it. All I hear is silence, except Brianna's pencil sketching away. I looked up to see what she was working on. All I see on her paper is a formation of a work starting with an 'R'. At first i thought she was writing my name, but once I saw the 'N' come after the 'A', I relaized it was the title of her story. As I look arounf the room I see everyone busy as a bee. So this is where I leave you dear friend. i must begin my journey to complete the Author's Technique for "King Arthur". Thank You.Have a wonderful day.

ReplyDeleteToday was Hump Day, which symbolizes the middle of the week. Slowly I crept to my desolate, warm seat ware some other kids warm butt had just occupied it. Along came Ethan, very tall and mighty. He was showing off his new toy, the new I pad. I glanced at its untainted touch screen, just waiting for finger tips to cores its many computer animated options. Then what do I hear, 500 bucks, what kind of fool would bring something that valuable to school?
As I sat and stared, waiting for direction. “Hello class, we are going to read from our text books all hour.” Oh bother what a drag, at least I can get my math kicked to boot, but this really does not give me much to scribe about.
One by one Becker collected the discussion notes. I sensed the disappointment of an uncompleted task by several unruly groups. To this note, as always, he tries to lever full cooperation by the threat of “Loosing Points.” Honestly I do not believe many care, they figure its acceptable to pass with a C, so why should they bother.
I searched for something more interesting to script about, but all I view is some sleeping, others talking, and a few dumb founded looks into airy space. Becker scolds the students, “time to get to work.” everyone shuffles for their myth book, all that can be herd is the rattling crinkle of pages being turned.
My eyes glaze with boredom, my math homework is done, and I do not want to read with the fear of falling into a deep slumber due to the countless rows of words that can not hold my attention.
So quiet and the air reigns still, please, bell ring so I can escape.
