As I walked into class today I was bombarded with the question “what color is night?” Answers like silver, blue, black and clear fill the air. I am very glad that I got to do scribes notes today instead of Monday, it already appears to be more interesting. It seems as if Nathan didn’t get the correct answer because he started giving hints about some video game. I didn’t really understand it, but it seems like it could be interesting. A loud sound distracts me from Nathans rant. Chaz and Scott shared a very intense high-five that Becker put down in his top ten high five’s seen or something like that. Mr. Becker then announces that we are watching the movie this week and filling out a journey journal. yes, they have made a re- appearance. We are watching the movie ‘Tron’, which was filmed in 1983. 27 years old... WHOO! This is not sarcasm I promise, most class mates were very excited about seeing this one since promos for the new one have come out. Nathan starts growling and next thing you know the DVD menu is popping up. I have to say the whole menu page is pretty awesome. We notice that the disc looks like a Frisbee and Malcolm makes the comment that he finally figured Mr. Becker out. The movie starts and silence fills the room. If you were absent , I pity the fact that you missed awesome lines like “Hey Flynn, Can I have some of your pop corn” and “accounting cream puffs” My favorite line of the movie so far is “ Who does he calculate he is?” We stopped the movie with about ten minutes left of class and we started discussing our j^2s. We discussed the film and came to an agreement that the call to adventure and crossing of threshold were heavy discussed and other hints for the other boxes were present as well. This was when my brain started figuring out what I wanted for lunch. Unable to decide, I rush out, as the bell rings, hurrying to the parking lot, wishing it weren’t so cold outside.

Today started out like any day before. People awere scurrying to their seats so that they wouldn't be late to class. Today, though, Mr. Becker decided to change the pace of the class. Instead, he decided we should watch the classic 80's movie Tron. Our assignment was to analyze Tron for the steps of the hero's journey. The first part of Tron went like this:
Flynn is an avid computer programmer who wants domething from withtin this computer database. As he is playing some hacking games, the movie "zooms in" to show the action of what is really happening. There are people in the computer! They can't fathom a user or understand how they were made. Later, we meet some former coworkers of Flynn, George and his wife. They work for a programming company emcom that has recently struck gold with some of Flynn's games. However, the company's president, Mr. Dillenger, takes credit for developing those games. FLynn wants credit and evidence that the ideas for the hit games were his. That is why he is hacking into the company system. George and his wife are worried for Flynn and the themselves when Mr. Dillenger denies their access to the system. George wants to create a security program he calls Tron and Flynn wants his files, so they sneak into the company at night to hack into the system from there. As Flynn is trying to get into the system, the rampant and independent-thinking Master Control Program recognizes Flynn and it beams Flynn into cyberspace with a special laser beam. Flynn's journey is about to begin.
